>>35156804I'm just wondering one thing.
Why don't they split the targetbases?
SMT started with the same premise of JRPG with mute MC and monsters doing the fighting, skillsets, fusions etc.
They have one series for the socialising kind that wants teendrama and friendships, and the Persona team that develops it.
Then there's the more "morally gray" mainline.
There was a short series of kid-friendly games (that was still about literal demons).
Then there was the mix of weird spinoffs that all had different settings but same gameplay core. Different strokes for different folks, and if someone's a fan, they'll most likely buy majority of releases.
Pokemon has hit a problem of spreading itself too thin imo, and games starting to cater to kids (which are always the intended target, let's face it) while leaving the returning players unsatisfied with kiddie fun.
Sure, there's mainline, occasional Mystery Dungeon, but the setting very much needs another XD.
I'd ask for some semblance of meaningful choice (or GF forbid, diverging routes) from the player, but that's not something to be expected of single-save-game style.
