You can see it yourself if you browse Japanese Gen 1 books but understandably a lot of Pokemon fans/Lewtwo themselves don't want to do that.

People are only acting like it's an issue because Lewtwo itself MADE it an issue by his overall shitty attitude, using terms designed to start shit like calling the other scans ugly etc. (when you know just 3 days ago he and everyone else would've been like "omg retro Pokemon ;_;" about them), incorrectly implying their existence is entirely due to localization bullshit when they're not (the alternate colors seem to have been used in Japanese media too and thus NOA etc. likely obtained the "worse" scans from a Japanese source), and making people fight by saying things "remove the low-quality scans immediately :^)))))" because god forbid both versions exist in an archive despite both being influential, because Lewtwo needs his clout
