In reality, Tajiri didn't really care that much about the Pokemon themselves. What they were or weren't didn't matter, they were just a vehicle to deliver the sense of satisfaction that comes with collecting things. He compares them to bugs.

The idea that they were always conceived as metaphors for pets is blatant historical revisionism by animalfags which have embedded themselves within GameFreak and TPC. And animalfaggotry is a cancer. Robots, spirits, aliens, biomechanical creatures, all manner of fantastical beings, have been reduced to mere beasts thanks to animalfaggotry cancer. It's sucked that magic and wonder out of pokemon.
