At that point they cared little-to-naught about player-preferred patterns, so I doubt that Gallade was made to fix the 'trap problem'.
Maybe the first idea was to make this line into something along the lines of Meowstic gender-wise but dropped in favour of something more eerie and complex?
I'm fine with the current setup, but still feel that fandom could develop male Gardevoir - Gallade interaction into something more than just petty jokes or porn. Seems like a nice motif that gets overlooked all the time.
