I think that Hoenn is also just "there" for the vast majority of people, unfortunately. Gen 3 was that odd moment in time where lots of people just stopped playing Pokemon. Either from the post-90s burnout, growing up, or being "too cool" to play with the series at all. The Hoennbabies eventually got their remakes, but ORAS was met with split reception. It modernized the game in some significant ways, but also left out many improvements from the enhanced version (Emerald). It's in a weird spot where people seem to remember it fondly, but nobody is crazy about it anymore.
