In gen 1 bug is super-effective against poison so you're dealing 4x damage on every grass/poison type, (So basically every grass type) and most psychic types are physically frail. Add tge fact that it can spore anything and boost with swords dance and suddenly leech life isn't that bad. I think I had dig in the last slot for coverage which was 100 base power back then. He was my bloody MVP mate. Don't ever disrespect him again.
