>>46185917It's an odd thought, but what about the UI? I hate to use something like Persona 5 as a reference point, but Persona 5 has gorgeous UI that makes every battle feel, y'know, cool. Sure it's easy still, but it doesn't feel like a drag with all the neat visual effects despite the fact that the game still has a lot of "thing does animation and visual effect happens" type animations. Obviously it's not a PERFECT fix, but making things actually flashy is a good start.
That, and take from Battle Revolution and have Pokemon run towards the opponent when using a physical move. The way the HP bars decrease in that game are pretty cool too, could implement that. Lastly, of course, make the move animations look better, too. Shit, even the environments need some work, like unique backgrounds for every area a battle occurs in rather than just a blank tile background or some shit.
And ta-da, you have something that's actually presentable. It's a lot of work, obviously, but at this point you'd have to do that with how shit everything is.
