Earl (the dad and essentially main character) is made the Vice President of Communications to help clear up these vines plaguing the dinosaurs. The vines are spreading out of control because the company he works for, WESAYSO, built a wax-fruit factory over the mating grounds of a species of beetle, leading to their extinction. Because this species of beetle preyed on the vines, nothing else is around to keep them in check. Robbie (Earl's oldest son) and Charlene (his daughter) try to convince Earl to use alternative, safer methods to curb the vines, but Earl uses an herbicide that destroys all plantlife on the planet - this leading to a drastic growth of global warming.
WESAYSO moves to fix this, settling on the idea of simply needing more clouds, and come up with a plan to bomb the volcanoes and create ash clouds. Earl's position gives him the opportunity to object to this plan and suggest they come up with something else, but he gives in. The plan goes off, and the resulting ash clouds start an Ice Age that's predicted to wipe out the entire dinosaur civilization. The last five minutes of the episode consist of Baby (Earl's youngest son, see OP) asking what's going to happen to them. No one has the heart to say anything, and the episode ends with the recurring anchorman on the TV:
>And taking a look at the long range forecast: continued snow, darkness, and extreme cold. This is Howard Handupme. Goodnight... goodbye.
