I think an easy fix would be to have Rillaboom play the drum with it oriented like an actual tree stump instead of upright like a man-made drum set. This way it feels more like an animal. You could even have the roots of the tree trunk wrapped around Rillaboom's back like straps when it's not being used as a drum. Now it looks more like an animal whose species carries around a tree stump to use as a drum but it looks and feels more organic.
