Making trick room viable makes speed a useless stat, and possibly even disadvantageous to invest into. It also makes priority even more important than it already is, since it semi-overrides turn order. Trick Room is, and always should be, a niche gimmick. If it were to become a central part of the metagame, the game would lose any sense of stability around which to build teams. There should never be an auto-Trick Room ability, and it seems that GF agrees with me on that.
It's a little like Gen 5 weather, in that, in a meta where TR is common, the only way to predict the battle conditions is to set the battle conditions. You either run a TR team or you're prey to the opponent's team composition, which is overcentralizing.
