Its weird body, especially its mouth, makes it look like a plastic toy rather than a living creature. The fire sideburns and whatever the hell that thing on its nose is supposed to be don't do it any favors either.
They obviously wanted to give it a skeletal theme, but it strangely doesn't look skeletal at all. Only the white colors and the name suggest bones. Compare this design to say Cubone and it seems like whoever designed Skeledirge has never seen a skeleton in their life.
