I mean, gimmicks like Mega evo are more hype-generating than a batch of cross-gens, new type or an overbloated populace of region-specific legendaries. That way every pokemon with a distinct popularity and design potential can be a little gold vein if handled and distributed over time properly.
...and Gallade HAS some popularity to stand out, doesn't he?
