That said. OP. You should try both Digimon and SMT. Cyber Slueth/Hacker's Memory are much better than any mainline Pokemon game in the last 5 years and SMT Strange Journey Recux just came out on the 3DS which is a remake of a fan favorite. SMT IV and IV FINAL are good too. Who knows? You may find yourself enjoying these games more than Pokemon.
