Replaying older games with ROM hacks that implement them, I find myself trying out new Pokemon I wouldn't have thought to try before because I didn't want to grind out low level Pokemon but with the EXP share they're not only up to my main Pokemon pretty quickly, but at the very least usable when it comes to the spot I'm up to.
HMs being gone is great as I don't need to have a HM Slave, give my mons shit moves or have a dedicated water and flying type on my team to assure I can get around surf/waterfalls as well as fly. This is especially prevalent in mono type runs.
Recently replayed Emerald with the Revelation hack and it was the most fun I've had with gen 3 period.
