>>22146070Well, they breathe through their skin; they don't have actual coitus, it's external fertilization; some of the only animals to undergo metamorphosis, a trait only insects and amphibians have; there are 3 main types of them: arboreal, aquatic and terrarian based on where they mostly dwell, and their body types vary depending on it (seismi would be a terrarian by seeing its bulk, and greninja arboreal by seeing how slim it is); highly affected by their environment because of how they breathe, so any change in it can affect them greatly(which is why over 8000 species are currently endangered) and the very oils and dirt in your hands can harm them if you havent washed them.. also if you just washed them with soap it's bad for them; some species are highly venomous and gain this venom not from birth, but by absorbing the toxins of ants, their main diet, and using it themselves (the dendrobates family, like dart frogs), they lay thousands of eggs at a time, such as the bullfrog laying about 20k in one batch (might be wrong about the number, but im pretty sure iirc); the males are smaller than the females (about 1/3 smaller) and that's why they hold them from behind as they fertilize the eggs; arboreal frogs lay their eggs on leaves in trees that rest above water, and when the tadpoles are born they fall into said water(which is fucking cool); even if they're very humidity/water dependant, there are species of toads(not technically frogs but yes) that live in deserts, and tend to bury themselves and depend on the humidity under the sand and the scarce rain; frogs are one of the most important pieces to the food chains in all of their respective habitats, and are a fundamental part of our ecology... and finally, 2008 was named the year of the frog due to the activists attempts at raising funds and helping the endangered frogs's habitats, which are being harmed by a fungus that kills them, since they breathe through their skin and it gets to them through it.
