I used Shuppet to cheese wins back when that was a viable tactic.The issue is that because the combat is random, the game is functioning on pure luck. It's not even slight variation in damage values, it's straight up random who wins a fight unless you have a figure that is a perfect counter to your opponent, and because the teams are decided beforehand and there isn't a match two for a sideboard this just doesn't work.
I mean, look at MtG. It's random what you draw, so games can swing heavy in either players favor depending on luck. But MtG does a best 2 out of 3 system with a chance to switch cards out for the second and third games to make it so decks with unfavorable matchups have a chance.
Duel doesn't do this. Duel might as well be decided by a dice roll, because if two perfect AI face off against each other with one team that is perfectly countered to defeat the other one, the perfect AI will still lose 1/6 of the time, even with no misplays.
tldr: This game is pay to win Tic-Tac-Toe, and the only winning move is not to play.
