They are a bunch of dumb and silly screw-ups that most of the time are able to only inconvenience the rest of the society. They can hardly even steal Pokémon, they manage only to "steal" a bus stop.
But they're not completely one-dimensional, once you get to the town they took over and learn more about them they become a little sympathetic because you see they are mostly just kids that were unable to meet the expectations thrust upon them and felt discarded by society.
Also, Plumeria is tought but it's lovely to see she actually cares about her dumb teammates and tries to be a big sister to them.
