Absols never had the ability to sense danger. Like most Pokedex entries, it was all propaganda to make people like them again after they're specie became associated with disaster events.
In reality, most Absols are a scavenger species that were driven into the mountains due to either the misconceptions or they really just didn't like living around humanity in general... Every time one comes down they're usually just looking for food or something.
