>>42647983>>42648790This. I wouldn't say the music became bad due to the jump to the 3DS, particularly because XY were quite strong titles in terms of music and, to be a bit more autistic, sound effects.
Gen 7 wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either and I don't remember many tracks outside of the goofy UB and Team Skull soundtracks, the themes of the city on the third island and Hau'oli City.
Gen 8 was bad, outside of some exceptions. But even then, the exceptions were always quite overwhelming compared to what's happening in the game (Rose's battle theme is awesome, but Rose is stupid and his theme makes this quite easy battle feel more like a bad comedy sketch than the first climax of the story).
Overall:
Gen 5 > Gen 4 = Gen 6 > Gen 7 > Gen 3 > Gen 2 > Gen 8 = Gen 1
