Let's be honest, Pokemon's playerbase doesn't actually gives a shit about about character or personality when it comes to Champions. Alder is easily the most well developed, influential Champion in the series, with a relatable backstory and serving a mentorship role within the story. And he gets no art, no recognition, because (1) you never have to fight him and (2) he isn't a power fantasy. Just look at all the Leon vs. Cynthia drivel that's been floating around for the last few months. It's all power level bullshit. All XY/Diantha needed was a difficulty switch to upgrade her team or something.
