Gen 1 game and story with HD graphics, modern-ish gameplay mechanics and a means to get all 151 without trading should suffice.
But I have many other ideas I've planned on putting in, big or small. One is having a six month timeskip post-HoF, switching from spring to autumn, which would change Pokemon availability, open up new areas of the environment and justify why Blue is immediately champion when you fight the E4 again (each time you beat the E4 would switch back and forth between spring and fall). I've created new areas of Kanto that expand on existing locations in ways I think would be fun, and come up with a little more story stuff to make more of a post-game.
Yet when I think of actually playing the game with these things, in my mind I'm annoyed at the fanfiction of it and find it distracting.
