>>45477224Alright I'll just fuckin effortpost because this has been a long time coming. If you are comparing two systems of adding content like DLC vs. third versions, taking the initial price into consideration skews the judgement.
If I'm a wholesale retailer, and I allow you to buy one unit of product X for full price and every subsequent unit at full price, and I allow you to buy one unit of product Y for full price and every subsequent unit at HALF price, then the second option is a cheaper SYSTEM, regardless of the actual price of X and Y. This is because you are getting the value of the initial product for half of the initial price in system 2.
Similarly, for DLC, each unit of DLC is only 1/4 of the initial unit price, as opposed to third version's 100%. Even if you were to lie to yourself and say that the content of both DLC is equivalent to what is available in your standard 3rdvers, that's still only1/2 initial product price. If it's too expensive, that's an issue with switch initial product pricing vs. previous handheld models, not with DLC over 3rdvers.
>But you can skip the first versionThen you're not getting any EXTRA content, because you're just taking the modifications as the initial product; same as skipping the initial release. This includes any limitations in transferring content between the two
>But you can just resell the first versionThen you're going out of your way to try and re-create the system I've already described, and the only thing GF has changed is making it so you don't have to gamble on resale value.
tl;dr Hate on Swsh all you want but DLC is objectively cheaper and more consumer-friendly than third versions and I hope they keep that system for the future. Or, alternatively, just pack everything into the initial release.
