Also fought the Rival off of Route 22, so I'll be looking at a Flareon evolution in the late part of the game. Focused on leveling Slag primarily as he was the only one to learn a really damaging move against Brock's rocks. Got my badge, and headed out to Mt Moon, catching a Geodude on the way. I think my game might be slightly glitched out because I never ran into that one Rocket with the Raticate, and I'm pretty sure he didn't get removed in this version? In any case, made it to Cerulean and got my free Bulbasaur. Good thing too as I unfortunately killed the first encounters on the last two routes.
