the story of Moon&Sun:
the evil team in Moon tries to bring eternal night to Earth because then some nocturnal Pokémon can have a better life
the evil team in Sun tries to bring eternal day to Earth because then some diurnal Pokémon have a better life
so in order to achieve this they wake up the Sun/Moon legendary. you have to wake up the third legendary which ends the chaos and brings everything back to normal.
(a little bit like the Hoenn story, but with Day/Night instead of land/ocean)
