>>46035759>TITLEOn the recommended Emulators in the sticky pastebin
>SUBJECTThe pastebin is OUTDATED and needs to be updated as the currently reccomended emulators are BOTH out dated and no longer supported
>ARGUMENTAs Nuglockers our access to the best emulation software is essential. Simple quality of life improvements like save states, fast forward, and local trading can make a world of difference in the life of a Nuglocker, and every little bit counts. When reccomending an emulator to such a large general and popular group as is gathered here it is especially important to recommend the BEST emulator. I will now prove that the emulators reccomended in the sticky are OUTDATED and NOT RECCOMENDED. There ARE alternatives
>Nintendo DSThe pastebin reccomends DeSmuMe which to it's credit was the ONLY DS emulator up until 2019 at which point development moved primarily to melonDS. In it's current form
DeSmuME
>suffers from constant texture glitches>lacks local wifi emulation connectivity (that means NO local trades!)>crashes if you unplug your controller while changing hotkeys, does NOT recognize a controller when plugged inI recently played Soul Silver using DeSmuME and the experience was terrible! Every half hour the textures would glitch and i'd have to re-set the Rom and if I unplugged my controller the game would occasionally freeze and I would have to close the emulator and reload from my last save.
On my current Platnid Playthrough I have switched to
melonDS
>runs CONSIDERABLY faster >has not crashed ONCE (been playing all day for 24 hours)>supports local wifi trade>IS still being actively developed (last commit was today!)Therefore I think it OBVIOUS that melonDS be made the reccomended emulator
Similarly with the gba the pastebin currently suggests
>vbawhich does NOT support multi threaded CPU for fucks sake!
When playing vba at 16X the emulator will CRUCIFY the first core of your CPU while the rest are fucking unused!
>mGBA does NOT have this!
