The game dev is a fucking idiot who doesn't know how to do anything right. Every single route is excessively long and 80% grass, alongside bloated encounter tables (the first route has EVERY SINGLE EARLY RODENT AND BIRD IN THE FRANCHISE), and there are trainers every 5 steps who never have less than 3 Pokémon with them. Cities are overly large to the point where there are like 8 copy-pasted houses all with equally-redundant dialogue in them packed into little corners, and then a shit ton of empty space with hardly any NPCs for the entire rest of the city (save for the usual center/mart).
The battle mechanics are fun in concept, and can be if you're high enough, but usually devolve into running in circles while the opponent runs in circles and OCCASIONALLY firing off a move that will almost never hit. And if it does actually hit, there's still a chance it'll miss, so whether it does anything at all is a fucking toss-up, especially considering how small enemy hitboxes are.
Statuses are hell, even more so than in the main series- Paralysis halves your speed (in a game where speed = MOVEMENT speed) and forces most of your attacks not to work. Easy, right? Just like main series, but in a real-time format. WRONG, YOU FOOL. Every time an enemy hits you (which will be happening a lot with this status), your PP meter stops filling up. So not only are you frequently near-frozen in place and unable to use your moves at the toss of a hat, whenever you DO try to use a move, you'll need to wait upwards of HALF A MINUTE just to ATTEMPT a single one.
Poison is the same as main series, Confusion is stupidly easy to subvert (all it does is make any attacks you use hit you instead, so running around doing nothing until it wears off is the only viable option. This just pads the battles out even more and elicits nothing but groans
part 1 of who cares, this game is so fucking bad
