Three Houses is well above Fates, because Fates counted every route as a sale (yes, that includes the downloadable $20 Routes)
Kirby Star allies is a valid point, although it was free updates rather than DLC
NSMBU was a Pack in game with the Wii U, is very similar to the gigantic seller that was NSMBWii and had to contend with super Mario Maker 2, and it's still selling with nothing to outright replace it for the time being (like say, a new entry coming just next year for its anniversary) besides, it's a more straightforward port than MK8 DX
Ishihara and GF might have been fine with mediocre results on the 3ds where costs were super low and Pokemon was just starting to come out of a mild "dark age" (for lack of a better word)
But with the big first console Mainline new gen Pokemon RPG? You can bet your ass they're not just feeling the sunshine and rainbows with the increased development costs and with its lesser aspects starting to look way worse than the other marquee Nintendo franchises, especially because being in the same building makes it way harder to avoid direct interference from the guys that are effectively at the top of the Pokemon food chain
