But I've played pokemon like this since gen IV. I've always imported the Japanese version of one then bought the US version of the other. That way I have Japanese dittos, and i'm never missing a pokemon that I want to raise because its a "version exclusive"
Sure I could just trade for it, but its not the same as finding it in the grass.
Pic related. Its a pokemon that is unusually rare in the newer games and even with all the games that I have I didn't have one. I actually had to go back to my Ruby game to get one and transfer it all the way to gen 5
