Gen 6 is decent enough and has all the makings of a good game even if it ends up mediocre, the criticism towards it is absolutely valid even if the hate coming from Gen 7+ fans is overblown, but they do the same shit to Gen 5 despite it being objectively the best Gen so there's little reason to take them seriously.
So, no. Gen 8 nor Gen 7 will not be remembered fondly by anyone other than onions gulping manchildren that have never played a game with the National Dex in it. Pokemon effectively died after ORAS and arguably even in it.
