Feral designs can get just as repetitive and boring. Not only that feral designs are usually shallow, with nothing more than amimal + element. With humanoid designs you do animal + element + anthropomorphic activity + weapon or ant variation of them. With feral designs you're pretty much limited to what that concept is. If it's almost any mammal, amphibian or reptile it's a quadruped. If it's a bird it's biped, and so on. Woth humanid designs, you can make them knuckle walkers, semi knuckle walkers, hunchbacks, buff, arm draggers, etc. You can give them abnormally long legs, or short legs.
