When GameFreak said new animations, they almost certainly meant the move animations. Which all look fucking great besides Double Kick which has looked the same since the beginning of the series.
And even if they were talking about the Pokémon animations, we’ve seen evidence of this already. Every Pokémon has an intro animation, a victory animation, and some even have new animations entirely like we’ve seen with Raichu, Weavile, and Espurr. Hell Espurr and Cincinno’s models have even been updated. Where’s the articles on that?
