what would the results be in each case for her? While reuniting with XY Ash, after he had more experience as a trainer and traveler and had dealt with a lot of his early hangups and baggage (largely around Gary and sharing the spotlight of his journey with others like May, Dawn, etc.), meant that Serena met an Ash that was much more confident, well-rounded, and gentle than he otherwise could've been, I can't help but imagine mixed results if they reunited earlier. As much as Serena being with Ash right from the start in OS could've done wonders for Ash's emotional health, I can't help but think that Ash not having a certain tsundere to be an aggressive presence early on would deny him skin-thickening. Though I like to imagine Serena having to wrangle OS Ash's more dickish personality.
