>>44660844>Hell even the fighting dojo of Kanto was skipped in the anime for the longest time.I viewed that fighting tournament with Hitmonlee and Hitmonchan to be the anime's interpretation of that and they even reference the fighting spirit gym as a Pokemon Gym which is what the fighting dojo used to be in Red and Blue. I think S1 took a lot of places in the games and spun them in interesting ideas like the SS Anne, Safari Zone, the Pokemon transfer system (too bad about the seizures), the Magikarp salesman, the copycat house and so on.
>basically all the big Team Rocket plots from the games were cut in the animeWe will never know how the 8th badge would've gone if the hiatus never happened so its fully possible that during the time between badges 6 and 8 they originally planned to build up to a gym battle with Giovanni like in Red and Blue by having something big like the Silph Co. takeover. However if Team Rocket was ever planned to be fully dealt with is kinda doubtful given that they would've appeared in the Mewtwo movie anyways.
