>XY had A lot of cut content but the potential was there, it's salvageable because the dex is large and the Pokemon spread is pretty decent, even without Bank
>ORAS took away a lot of things that were beloved from the originals, and its unnecesary focus on story damages more than helps the game, but it added a lot of nifty features
>Mega Evos were pretty good, even if you dislike them, they added a touch of personality to your team, and unironically helped a lot of shitmon, it just went to hell when they gave them to Pokemon that didn't need them at all (Mawile/Kanto starters/Slow Pokemon, needed them, fuckers like Metagross, Alakazam and Gengar did not)
7th gen
>SM aren't bad by themselves, the story is too wordy, and they cut back on battle types for stupid reasons, but The Totem Pokemon were pretty good bosses, and the difficulty was okay if you played Set like a man and turned EXP share off, but...
>USUM is the first game in years that turns their predecessors so utterly useless, it's literally the same game but with more Pokemon(Contrast with Platinum, and BW2 that, outside of using the same region, built upon and fixed their predecessors features/mistakes)
>USUM is absolute nothing if you played the originals, and SM are turned to nothing if you played USUM, making the 7th gen feel empty and unfulfilling
>Z Moves, were interesting but badly executed, they felt less personal than Megas, and were clearly done just to quickly inject a "spark" into Pokemon, because YW was unironically threatening them in Japan market-share wise
TLDR The 3ds entries are fine, and a lot of their fuckups can be attributed to growing pains with 3D development
