"Iris had always loved the snow. She loved how it sparkled in the sunlight, how it crunched under her boots, how it made everything look like a fairy tale. She loved the snow so much that she decided to study abroad in Sinnoh, for a year, hoping to experience the famous winter festivals and snow sculptures.
She didn’t expect to fall in love.
Dawn was a local student who volunteered as a guide for the international students. She had a bright smile, a bubbly personality, and a passion for photography. She was always taking pictures of the scenery, the people, and the events around her. She was also always taking pictures of Iris.
Iris didn’t mind. She liked Dawn’s attention, her compliments, her jokes. She liked how Dawn made her feel special, how she made her laugh, how she made her heart race. She liked Dawn.
But she didn’t know if Dawn liked her back.
She didn’t know if Dawn was just being friendly, or if she felt something more. She didn’t know if Dawn was interested in girls, or if she had a boyfriend. She didn’t know how to tell Dawn how she felt, or if she should tell her at all.
She was afraid of ruining their friendship, of being rejected, of being hurt.
She kept her feelings to herself, hoping that one day, Dawn would make the first move.
One day, Dawn did.
It was the last day of the Mt Coronet Snow Festival, and Iris and Dawn were walking around the park, admiring the giant snow sculptures. They stopped at one that depicted a scene from a popular anime, with two girls holding hands and smiling at each other."
