It shouldn't matter who owns what, what should matter is who MAKES what. The fact companies like Disney and Warner Brothers can "officially own" franchises they didn't even make is part of the actual problem with modern media and why we get so much bad shit nowadays
This extends to Nintendo killing off emulators and rom sites. They're doing the bare minimum of IP protection and that's still an issue with people, so maybe, just maybe, focus on changing these protection laws because they clearly do not work in the era of modern internet
