>>51506819>>51506849>>51506873Just beat Crystal, and I can 100% confirm that it is super comfy and fun and anyone who shits on it is too used to the way the later games work. There's a lot of QoL features in the later games that Gen 2 lacks and the combat is deeper, but Gen 2 oozes with charm and soul. Something about the smaller movesets and movepools make the Pokemon feel a lot more specific to what they're meant to do, and somehow more unique. Plus the spritework is some of the best the series has had. Not to mention it's also LOADED with content. It really feels like a big send-off to the series (as you said it was going to be the last game ever). Don't get me wrong, I like the later gens, but this playthrough of Crystal made me realize how special Gen 2 really was.
Pick related was my team. Only complaint about the Pokemon distribution is that Tyranitar and Misdreavus are locked behind Kanto, and I really wanted to use them on my team. Quagsire and Sunflora replaced them, and while they were fun to use, I do wish I could've used my planned team.
