Were dark type pokemon introduced for the same reason as the fairy type? The fairy type was introduced as a counter to dragon types because they have become too powerfull. In gen 1 psychic types were the most powerful pokmeon. There was no real counter to them since ghost attacks don't work because of a glitch, ghost type attacks were weak and the only type of ghost type there were was the ghastly line who are all poison types. Bug types were also too weak. Was the dark type just introduced as a counter to the psychic type?
