I've said this before before, but the Binacle line really should've had Burmy's gimmick on introduction. The pair are based on gooseneck barnacles, a neat little set of crustaceans that are notable for being able to live in just about any ocean and anchor themselves to just about any surface (notably, shipwrecks and driftwood [like in pic related] in addition to rocks). In Pokemon, it's well established that Binacle can detach themselves from their rocks and anchor onto whatever surface they desire, up to and including the head of a living human, so it always seemed like a waste to put them on rocks and call it a day. So I'm going to be greedy here and give my Collective bro the variety it should've had from the start.
The idea here is that the most common rock in this region is really fragile, like a sandstone, so the Binacle who live there must be able to secure a new surface whenever the old one is destroyed (ether by falling in battle or using the move Shell Smash). Since they have to be able to move frequently, they have slightly lower Defense and slightly higher Speed than Kalosian Binacle and are pure-Water types since they aren't permanently bonded to any one surface. They'll attach to scrap metal in buildings and towns, wood in forests and grasslands, and sandstone everywhere else.
When these Binacle evolve, they permanently bond to their chosen surface and gain its elemental properties. A regional Barbaracle that stuck to sandstone will have the same stats as Kalosian Barbaracle, but with the Ground type; a Barbaracle that colonized metal will have -10 Speed and +5 Defense/Special Defense; and a Barbaracle that anchored itself to wood will get +10 Speed and -5 Defense/Special Defense from base.
