Which makes sense.
They had 50 some people doing all 720 Pokemon models in XY and a different group of around 50 doing the animations. Even with that many people, 720 is a huge number to get done in high quality.
Come SM, they dropped those numbers down to less than 20 each, but they also only had to do 81 new Pokemon giving them way more time to spend on each one.
The same seems to be happening with S/S. The old assets aren't getting any major changes besides their textures being redone, but the new Pokemon are getting really nice models with more detailed animations.
