Also I just remembered. Ken Sugimori's interview stated Samurott's design is based after a sea-lion (or sea otter sea lion combination, I forgot exactly) after a trip to the aquarium or something. It's kinda weird. from the official art his posture reminds me of sea lion more although it also looks like giant otter. It's a combination of both, goddamnit.

Blastoise does not look cool at all. Its an obese inconsistent digimon-tier design that is blessed with a huge nostalgia factor going for it. Samurott would be better received if it originated in Gen 2.

Should've been introduced in earlier gens imo. The gen 5 sprites were mostly static poses with body joints moving. A damn shame really.

Samurott suffers from lacking a nostalgia vibe for older fans to comprehend. Blastoise and Blaziken are more inconsistent but get a pass because they existed since the late 90s-early 2000s.
