Yeah, the fragmented sentences tend to sound a bit weird, you'd need to use them with restraint if at all. My train of thought was like "a sigh only lasts a split second so it warrants a split-second line, right?". "Kieran let out a soft sigh" would've been way less awkward but it would've lost a bit of impact/immediacy, neither option would've been strictly better imo.
Now you know why I've been so slow at finishing a simple two-shot fic in the span of time some people take to write entire books. It's because I overthink stuff like this
