back sprite reuse has been a thing since gen 3, and there have been a few mon who've had their sprites totally unchanged since their debut, but I meant moreso on a noticeable scale as opposed to just a handful of mon
something like 1/3 of returning Pokémon just had their DP/Pt/HGSS sprites badly tweened for BW/BW2 as opposed to getting any new work done on them, and those that did get "improvements" often ended up like the poor sod in this picture
