That's one thing it "did better" objectively speaking. I'd also like to cite Gen 4's HGSS as being significantly better remakes than Gen 3's FRLG. And take into account that I'm a huge Genwunner faggot who unironically enjoys playing LGPE.
Another thing off the top of my head that Gen 4 did better than 3 was the redesigned outfits for the player characters. Emerald (while being an amazing fucking game that shits on Platinum in every way imaginable) had terrible color palette swaps for both Brendan and May. Orange/Green makes my eyes wanna bleed. Platinum, on the other hand, gave us the absolute best female protagonist outfit in the entire series history.
