He could use any other religion and it would be the same, and I'm sure you'd still complain because he's not being all-inclusive or some shit. Even Pokemon made this kind of joke in the anime a few times. What, would you rather see Misty in a miko outfit swinging her miko stick around to dispell spirits? It's pretty much the same joke either way.
