It's pretty much been retconned into the blue one we know today starting with FR/LG, but that was after the fact, not to mention that it's also when her bikini has been made less revealing.
Early artwork has her mostly in a yellow bikini, only some artwork has her in red, though the anime mostly showed Misty in her red bikini, it's the one she wore on most occasions. There are far fewer depictions of her in a blue bikini in the gen1 era by ken sugimori.
The actual sprite implies it's a dark color too, I guess it could be black.
