I'm pretty sure it was either the tail end of Gen 3 or the beginning of Gen 4 when that happened, but it was a Gen 1 Ash costume because we didn't have anything past Gen 2. This extends to the games, we only had a copy of Red I kept until I was 15, before the battery leaked onto the rest of the PCB and it wasn't salvageable.
