I'm here to give you guys some info from the future. I'm going to do this on other boards as well, so look out for it.

The next games are going to be Pokemon Sun and Moon. They're set in an archipelago-like place, inspired by Hawaii I think. There are lots of new Pokemons compared to the previous games. One of them looks like a rabbit or something (I'm not sure) and it's a fire type. It's one of my friend's favourite Pokemons. He also likes that new ghost. Sorry if I don't remember the names. The green legendary from the older games has some new forms that are important to the plot when the evil team abuses it I think.
The next game is a 3d reimagination of the original region set in the future. The first region I mean, the one with Ash and everything. He told me everyone except normies was sad when it got announced but then they showed it off and it was a lot more detailed than it used to be that the situation got reversed with normies hating it. He complained you can't go to the other region or the islands a lot that it actually led him to dislike the game a lot for a while (he also complained we haven't seen a proper frontier since Platinum but I'm not sure what he means) but then he got over it
