>>47624348I know it's a bait thread but here's my problem with Gen8, it's a shadow of what it could have been. People whine about the national dex and shit but none of that really bothers me. Say what you will about X/Y but it used the power of the 3DS to push the franchise to where it hadn't gone before, SwSh used the Switch to do... nothing innovative at all. And it's a real shame because the game is full of great ideas that ultimately fall far short of successful implementation.
The wild area is a fantastic idea, but it's an empty void with nothing interesting to do. Camping is amazing soul, but it's boring as fuck and ultimately pointless. The gym league and final tournament is quality stuff, but the order is fixed and there's zero payoff for a great setup. The villain's motives are inspired by the current energy crisis... in 1,000 years. The actual fuck is going on at GameFreak that this was their release on the Switch.
