>>40347833sonic team abandoned their tried and true formula (probably on accident in all honesty, they couldn’t have predicted the dreamcast going to shit and all their work on the adventure games being impossible to port properly) and hasn’t gotten it back since. they’ve also had multiple games fucking bomb. meanwhile pokémon is stagnant and has never seen a true failure, it’s seen dips but it’s sales remain consistent past pokémania. people will enjoy a stagnant series if the games are still fun (which they are sorry to say), sonic doesn’t have that consistency as it’s always trying some new big thing and thus is scrutinized further than pokémon. And i know the new hip thing around /v/ is to shit on mania but it was a genuinely incredible experience and i think that it should help sonic rediscover what made it contend with greats back in the day sometime in the future. Until then, we’re getting forces 2.
